Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 23 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep condolences over the death of Shubham Dwivedi from Kanpur, who lost his life in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on his official X account, CM Yogi termed the incident “extremely sad” and condemned the “cowardly” attack.

In his X post, he wrote, “The death of Shubham Dwivedi ji of Kanpur district in the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir is extremely sad. Today, I spoke to his father, Mr. Sanjay Dwivedi, over the phone and expressed my condolences. In this hour of grief, the Uttar Pradesh government stands with the family with full commitment. The concerned officials of the state have been directed to send the mortal remains to Kanpur with full respect. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed soul at his feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow.”
The Chief Minister spoke to Shubham’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, over the phone, offering condolences and assuring the family of the full support of the Uttar Pradesh government. He directed state officials to ensure Shubham’s mortal remains are transported to Kanpur with full respect.
Shubham Dwivedi, a newlywed who had gone to Kashmir with his wife for a short vacation, was among the civilians killed in the attack. Shubham was married on February 12, 2025, just two months prior to this. Tragically, his trip turned into a nightmare.
Speaking to ANI, his cousin, Saurabh Dwivedi, on Tuesday, alleged that the terrorist started firing after asking the names of the individuals and was shot in the head.
“Shubham Bhaiya got married on February 12 this year. He was in Pahalgam with his wife. My sister-in-law called my uncle and told him that Shubham was shot in the head. It is also reported that the firing began after the individuals were asked for their names… We have received information that the body will be released after 2-3 days after completing all the procedures…” he said.
