Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], May 9 (ANI): Former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has condemned Pakistan’s provocative shelling on civilian areas in Punjab and other parts of India, which took place last night and praised the Indian Armed Forces for their prompt and effective response, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and united.
In a post on X, “Strongly condemn Pakistan’s reckless and provocative shelling on civilian locations in Punjab and other parts of the country last night. I salute our Armed Forces for successfully foiling all their nefarious attempts!” Badal said.
“Also request all Indians, especially my Punjabi brothers and sisters, to stay calm, follow the administration’s instructions, and avoid unverified videos or news,” the post read.
Expressing solidarity with the central leadership, Badal said, “We salute our brave soldiers and assure the Prime Minister and the Government of India that the courageous Punjabis stand with them in this fight against terror and will not shy away from making any sacrifice to protect our motherland.”
Meanwhile, amid rising tension in the border area of the State, the Punjab government has cancelled all the leaves approved for the IAS and PCS officers across the state. It has also been instructed that no officer shall proceed on any kind of leave or leave their station of posting without the explicit approval of the Chief Secretary.
“In view of the prevailing situation and preparedness for the emergency response system, it has been decided that no officer shall proceed on any kind of leave or leave their station of posting without the explicit approval of the Chief Secretary, Punjab. All the leaves approved so far stand cancelled,” said an order issued by Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Secretary, Personnel.
“These instructions shall come into force at once. Meticulous compliance may be ensured, failing which, suitable action under the relevant rules shall be initiated,” it added. (ANI)
