Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 10 (ANI): The slogan of ‘vote chor, gaddi chhor’ is being proven across the country, and the Congress party will continue to prove it again and again, in more dramatic ways, Congress MP and leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday, while visiting his Raebareli constituency.
“The main slogan ‘Vote chor, gaddi chhor’ is being proven across the country. We will prove it again and again in more and more dramatic ways,” the Congress leader said.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested against the congress leader, taking out a rally in Rahul Gandhi’s constituency itself. The party took out a rally against the derogatory remarks made on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, which were made on the stage of the now-concluded ‘voter adhikar yatra’ in Bihar.
The party workers carried BJP flags, placards and shouted slogans against the Congress MP, while police officials were trying to disperse the crowd and made an effort to move the protesters away from the road, after some people sat down.
Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh took part in the protest too, and
“We demand that Rahul Gandhi apologise to the nation,” the UP minister told ANI.
Rahul Gandhi will be holding a meeting with booth level workers of the party in Harchandpur constituency and Unchahar constituency. Later on he will interact with representatives from Prajapati Samaj at Shanti Grand Hotel. Around 1:30 he will unveil the Ashok Stambh in Sadar assembly constituency
The Congress has continued their rallies and agitation against alleged “vote theft” in elections, as party’s Chhattisgarh in-charge Sachin Pilot demanded in the state that those responsible for alleged electoral malpractices “leave the throne” immediately. Pilot announced the intensification of the ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhodd’ campaign across Chhattisgarh.
“We will take the ‘vote chor, gaddi chhod’ campaign forward across the entire state. We will raise awareness among the people. The campaign will be run in Chhattisgarh for many days, and we will force the government to listen to our voice…” he said.
The call to intensify agitation against the alleged vote theft by Rahul Gandhi comes days after the conclusion of his ‘vote adhikar yatra’ in Bihar.
The campaign began on August 17, with Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav conducting the yatra together from Sasaram. From there, the rally spanned across 25 districts, to Aurangabad, Gayaji, Siwan, and others.
On the concluding day on September 1, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Yusuf Pathan and Lalitesh Pati Tripathi, Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut, also joined the Rahul Gandhi-led Voter Adhikar Yatra in Patna.
The INDIA bloc leaders visited around 110 assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state, covered over 1,300 kilometres, and saw the presence of multiple leaders. (ANI)
