Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) [India], July 22 (ANI): The Gangotri National Highway was blocked near Bishanpur area here on Monday evening due to continuous rain and landslides.
The police said that the work to clear the road is in progress.
“Gangotri National Highway is blocked near Bishanpur due to continuous rain and landslides. Work to clear the road is in progress. Traffic will be restored soon. Please maintain patience, do not take any kind of haste/risk,” Uttarakhand police posted on X.
On Sunday, too, the same highway was blocked for around eight hours from 6am on Sunday due to a massive landslide in Bishanpur. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) restored the highway around 3pm on Sunday.
The landslide was triggered by heavy overnight rain. The disruption caused hundreds of Kanwariyas and vehicles to be stranded on both sides of the highway. (ANI)
