Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 28 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state will become the best energy-efficient state in the country, adding that changes are being made in the electronics sector.
On Tuesday, CM Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with EESL CEO Vishal Kapoor and representatives of the company at the Secretariat to discuss ways to increase energy efficiency in the state.
The meeting focused on various aspects, including providing energy-efficient devices to households under the PMAY scheme, offering e-cycles and electric vehicles to government employees, and promoting solar energy.
EESL representatives presented electric cycle models to the CM and discussed plans to provide subsidized e-cycles to Dwarka women and students.
CM Naidu emphasised that various departments, including Housing, Energy, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, and Municipal Administration, will work together with EESL to achieve energy efficiency.
The CM stated that the government is committed to restoring the state’s past glory in energy efficiency.
He instructed EESL representatives to prepare proposals that benefit both the people and the government, both financially and environmentally.
CM Naidu mentioned that the government is promoting electric vehicles on a large scale, including in the RTC sector, and plans to increase solar power usage in government buildings.
He emphasized that energy generation and saving are both crucial and that decisions are being made considering both short-term and long-term benefits.
The CM recalled that 25 lakh LED streetlights were installed in the state earlier, but their maintenance was neglected by the subsequent government, resulting in only 60 per cent of the lights functioning.
He assured that measures are being taken to restore LED streetlights soon. EESL CEO Vishal Kapoor and representatives attended the meeting. (ANI)
