“Who will say no to him?”: AAP MP Sanjeev Arora on Arvind Kejriwal’s potential Rajya Sabha candidacy – World News Network

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], March 3 (ANI): AAP MP Sanjeev Arora on Monday sparked interesting speculation about the party’s future plans, particularly regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s potential move to the Rajya Sabha.
Arora, who is also the party’s candidate for the Ludhiana West by-election, stated that Kejriwal might not need to contest an MLA election to make the transition.
“It’s not needed that someone will contest MLA election, the seat (Rajya Sabha) will be vacated and then he (Arvind Kejriwal) will go to the Rajya Sabha,” said Arora.
According to Arora, the seven AAP MPs from Punjab in the Rajya Sabha are willing to vacate their seats for Kejriwal if needed. However, Arora emphasized that Kejriwal has shown no interest in joining the Rajya Sabha as of now.
“If he wants – any of us – the 7 MPs that are there in Rajya Sabha from Punjab are ready to vacate the seat. Who will say no to him? But it’s his decision, but as of now, he has shown no interest in going to Rajya Sabha,” added Arora.
This comes after speculation rose over Arvind Kejriwal’s potential Rajya Sabha entry from Punjab following his Delhi election defeat.
AAP holds a majority in the Punjab Assembly, and securing a Rajya Sabha seat from the state could be a strategic move to maintain his presence in national politics.
AAP’s Sanjeev Arora is set to contest the Ludhiana West by-election, a seat that fell vacant after the passing of AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi last month. Arora’s nomination has sparked speculation about Arvind Kejriwal’s potential entry into the Rajya Sabha.
As Arora was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab in 2022 for a six-year term, his resignation to contest the state elections could allow Kejriwal to take his seat in the Upper House. Meanwhile, the date for the bypoll has not been announced yet. (ANI)
