Delhi LG makes changes to duty hours of officials after decrease in pollution levels – World News Network

New Delhi [India], April 22 (ANI): With the decrease in pollution levels of New Delhi, the Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has made changes to the duty hours of officials and employees working in the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), as per a release.
Delhi Government officials, who previously worked from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., will now report at 9:30 a.m. and finish their workday at 6:00 p.m.
MCD officials, who earlier worked from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will now begin at 9:00 a.m., and end their day at 5:30 p.m.
This decision has been taken by the Lieutenant Governor in view of the consistent improvement in Delhi’s pollution levels over the past several months.
Earlier on Monday, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Monday ordered a comprehensive magisterial inquiry into the building collapse in the Mustafabad area’s Dayalpur locality that claimed 11 lives and left several others injured.
The tragic incident took place in the early hours of April 19 at D-26, Gali No. 1, Shakti Vihar, an unauthorised colony in northeast Delhi. The building, which was around 20 years old, came crashing down while residents were asleep.
In its statement released on Monday, Raj Niwas said, “The District Magistrate of North East Delhi has been assigned the responsibility of conducting this enquiry and has been asked to submit a detailed report within 15 days.”
The enquiry will delve deeply into the circumstances surrounding the collapse, examining all relevant facts and identifying any lapses or acts of omission and commission that may have played a role in this disaster. The enquiry will also seek to hold accountable those individuals and entities involved in the construction and oversight of the building.
The incident, which occurred at the early hours of April 19, 2025, had prompted an immediate and coordinated response from various emergency services. Authorities continue to assess the structural safety of surrounding buildings to prevent further incidents. (ANI)
