New Delhi [India], August 31 (ANI): BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Saturday criticised Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav for his comments on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and asked if “Sam Pitroda’s spirit” has entered into him.
Poonawalla further criticised the INDIA bloc, saying it’s in their nature to disrespect the Constitution and insult everyone.
Speaking to ANI, Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Tejashwi Yadav said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the ‘Chinese version’. just because he was born in Assam.. Has Sam Pitroda’s spirit entered Tejashwi Yadav?… It is the character of the INDI alliance to not respect the Constitution and insult every person.”
Poonawalla also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to clarify if Yadav’s comment aligns with efforts to unite India. Poonawalla also urged Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi to address whether Congress would sever ties with RJD after Yadav’s comments.
“Rahul Gandhi had started his Bharat Jodo Yatra Part 2 from the Northeast itself. He (Rahul Gandhi) should tell whether if this is a statement to unite India?… On this, Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi should say when will they (Congress) break ties with RJD?” he added.
Twjashwi had referred to CM Himanta as the “Chinese version of Yogi,” while attacking him over Assam Assembly’s decision to end the 2-hour Jumma practice on Friday.

The state assembly ended the practice of a two-hour adjournment for Jumma Prayers, every Friday that was introduced by Saadulah’s Muslim League government in colonial Assam.
Assam Speaker Biswajit Daimary said that the decision was taken as it had become difficult to hold discussions on Fridays due to a lack of time.
According to the previous rule, the sitting of the Assembly on Friday used to be adjourned at 11 am to facilitate Muslim members to go for namaaz, but, as per the new rule, the Assembly will conduct its proceedings without any adjournment for religious purposes.
As per the amended rule, the Assam assembly will commence its proceedings at 9.30 am every day, including Fridays. The order stated that the amendment was done to scrap the colonial practice, which aimed at dividing society on a religious basis. (ANI)
