New Delhi [India], September 19 (ANI): Delhi Police on Thursday said that they have questioned the building owner and recorded the statements of some witnesses in the tragic building collapse incident at Karol Bagh, which has claimed nearly a half-dozen lives and left many injured.
As per the police, they have also held forensic processing of the place of the incident and have also seized a record from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi office in Karol Bagh regarding their dangerous buildings survey.
“Further investigation is in progress,” the Delhi Police said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Devender Yadav said on Thursday that no one from the government or the administration has arrived on the spot so far and cracks have developed in other nearby houses also.
Yadav said, “5 people have died so far in the accident. No one from the government or the administration has arrived here so far. The debris is lying as it was yesterday… There is a possibility of people being stuck inside. The administration needs to take cognisance. People here are saying that 3 people are still missing.”
On Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Designate and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the bereaved families affected due to the incident.
The Delhi Minister also met the injured persons and the families of the deceased at the RML Hospital evening and assured financial assistance, saying that legal action would be taken against the building owner.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi should provide Rs 1 crore compensation to the people who lost their lives due to the building collapse in the Bapa Nagar in Karol Bagh. He also said that Rs 5 lakh should also be provided to the people who were injured in the incident. (ANI)
