NIA arests alleged JeM operative after raids across multiple states – World News Network

New Delhi [India] October 5 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operative on Saturday after searching multiple locations across India, an official statement by the agency stated.
The NIA arrested a person identified as Sheikh Sultan Salah Uddin Ayubi after searching locations across the states of Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. According to the agency, the person had an incriminatory role in a conspiracy case.
The accused is set to be produced before the NIA Special Court in New Delhi.
“Sheikh Sultan Salah Uddin Ayubi @ Ayubi was taken into custody after searches at 26 locations in the states of Assam, Maharashtra, UP, Delhi and J&K. The accused was arrested on account of his incriminatory role in the conspiracy case RC-13/2024/NIA/DLI. He will be produced before the NIA Special Court, Patiala House, New Delhi,” read the statement by the agency.
The statement by NIA confirmed that multiple other suspects have been questioned. Additionally, the NIA teams also seized multiple documents, electronic devices, magazines to examine for further leads.
“These are being examined for further leads and evidence against the suspects whose premises were searched today,” NIA said.
The NIA searched locations at Goalpara in Assam; Aurangabad, Jalna, and Malegaon in Maharasthra; Meerut and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh; Baramulla, Pulwama, and Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir; and Delhi.
According NIA’s investigations, the accused and other suspects were engaged in radicalising individuals, disseminating terrorist propaganda and recruiting young people in a JeM inspired outfit.
“The suspects were engaged in radicalising individuals associated with JeM, and were engaged in disseminating terrorist related propaganda, and radicalising and recruiting youth into the Jamaat outfit inspired by JeM. These suspects were involved in motivating youth into committing violent terror attacks across India, NIA investigations have revealed,” read the statement. (ANI)
