Guwahati (Assam) [India], October 16 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday that the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) enrolled over 60 lakh members so far as part of the party’s ongoing membership drive.
In a post on X, CM Sarma stated that the BJP Assam has successfully achieved 100 per cent of its membership campaign target.
“BJP4Assam has enrolled over 60 lakh members as part of the BJP Sadasyata Abhiyaan 2024 on the auspicious occasion of Lakshmi Puja. The 60 lakh strong family will work tirelessly by being with the people of Assam,” CM Sarma.
“On the grand occasion of Lakshmi Puja today, BJP4Assam successfully achieved 100 per cent of its membership campaign target. With the sustained efforts of our karyakartas and inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modiji,” the Assam Chief Minister added in on the same post.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday renewed his membership as the first active member of the BJP.
“Adding momentum to our endeavor of making a Viksit Bharat! As a @BJP4India Karyakarta, I am proud to become the first Sakriya Sadasya and launch the Sakriya Sadasyata Abhiyan today in the presence of our national president, @JPNadda Ji. This is a movement that will further strengthen our Party at the grassroots and ensure the effective contribution of our Party Karyakartas for national progress. In order to be an active member, a Karyakarta has to register 50 members either at a single booth or in a Vidhan Sabha seat. Such Karyakartas will be eligible to contest elections for a Mandal Committee and above. At the same time, they will get many opportunities to work for the party in the times to come,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
On September 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the BJP’s 2024 membership drive ‘Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024’ by renewing his membership and urging party workers to make special efforts to connect with the youth. (ANI)
