“Surprising when Rahul Gandhi will mature…”: MP Minister Vishvas Sarang on Congress leader’s remark on EC in Boston – World News Network

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 21 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishvas Sarang on Monday took a jibe at Lok Sabha leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Election Commission of India (EC) in Boston, US, asking when the latter would mature.
Minister Sarang further slammed the Congress leader and said that he always tried to defame the nation internationally and once again defamed the Indian constitutional system and agency in the US.
“It is surprising when Rahul Gandhi will mature. He has always tried to defame India internationally. He once again defamed the Indian constitutional system and agency in America, which is counted as treason. Rahul Gandhi can speak against Indian agencies on Indian soil, there is no issue at all but if he is speaking at the international level then he is representing India,” Sarang told ANI.
The minister stressed that if he (Rahul Gandhi) became the leader of the opposition, it was with the grace of the people and asked if the EC would have messed up, how could he become a member of parliament.
“If it was the fault of the Election Commission then how could he become an MP, how could Priyanka Gandhi win and Sonia Gandhi has been an MP for a long time. I wonder that Rahul Gandhi always degrades the honour and respect of the nation at the international stage and I believe this move of Rahul Gandhi is an act of treason,” Sarang added.
While addressing the Indian Diaspora in Boston, United States, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Election Commission (EC) in India was “compromised,” stating that there was something fundamentally wrong with the system.
Citing the example of the Maharashtra elections, the Senior Congress leader stated that there was an addition of 65 lakh voters to the voter list in two hours, which was impossible.
“More people voted in Maharashtra than the total number of people in Maharashtra, and this is a fact… the Election Commission gave us a figure in the evening around 5:30 p.m., and in two hours around 7:30 p.m., 65 lakh voters had voted, which is physically impossible…” he claimed, addressing the meeting.
Nonetheless, sources in the Election Commission have previously stated that allegations made by political parties about manipulated electoral rolls were unfounded. According to the sources, hardly any first or second appeals were made under Section 24 of the Representation of People act, or correction of any entries in Electoral Rolls (Section 22) or Inclusion (Section 23) during the recent Special Summary Revision published on January 6-7 2025.
