Team India to play Tri-Nation friendly tournament against Vietnam, Lebanon in October – World News Network

New Delhi [India], July 3 (ANI): The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced that Team India will take part in a Tri-Nation friendly tournament in Vietnam in October.
AIFF stated that the Blue Tigers will take on hosts Vietnam and Lebanon in the Tri-Nation friendly tournament.
“The Senior Indian men’s team will play a Tri-Nation friendly tournament in Vietnam during the October 2024 FIFA Window. Apart from India and hosts Vietnam, the third team in the fray are Lebanon. Both Vietnam (116) and Lebanon (117) are placed ahead of India (124) in the latest FIFA rankings,” AIFF stated.
Currently, in the latest FIFA rankings, Vietnam and Lebanon are both standing ahead of India who are in the 124th place. Vietnam hold the 116th place and Lebanon stand in the 117th spot in the chart.
The first match of the tournament will be played between Vietnam and India on October 9. The second game will be played on October 12 between India and Lebanon. Meanwhile, the last match will be between Vietnam and Lebanon on October 15.

Earlier, India’s campaign in the qualification for FIFA World Cup 2026 ended on a controversial note after Qatar clinched a 2-1 win in the World Cup Qualifier Second Round Group A clash at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha on Tuesday. However, the match garnered many highlights because Qatar was given a goal despite the ball travelling out of the field of play.
India led the game till the 72nd minute of the game but Qatar levelled the game following a controversial equaliser. Yousef Aymen found the back of the net after the ball had gone out of play. They scored another goal in the final minutes of the game to clinch a 2-1 victory and end Igor Stimac’s side run in the Qualification race. (ANI)
